Explanation
This comic riffs on the real astronomical fact that the Andromeda galaxy is on a collision course with the Milky Way, expected to occur in about 4-5 billion years. A scientist presents a plan: send all the pretty, socially successful people ("pretty girls you meet at parties") to the Andromeda galaxy, while the nerdy, socially awkward people ("Star Trek fans with a penchant for cargo shorts") are spread throughout the Milky Way.
The scientist then shows a simulation of the resulting galaxy interaction. Over a sequence of panels, the Milky Way (now populated entirely by nerds) slowly approaches Andromeda (populated by attractive people). The Milky Way galaxy says "I would worship you, let me touch you!" and then Andromeda moves away, with the Milky Way chasing after it across several panels, recreating the awkward dynamic of an overeager, socially inept person pursuing someone who is clearly not interested. The last panel shows the Andromeda galaxy moving off into the distance, with the Milky Way left behind, and the caption "Girls are weird."
The joke works on multiple levels: it's a nerd's-eye-view projection of romantic rejection onto a cosmic scale, it satirizes the socially awkward "nice guy" mentality, and it playfully anthropomorphizes galaxy interactions.
