Explain SMBC — the wiki for Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal

This comic takes the idealistic premise of abolishing war and follows it to its absurdly logical conclusion. A speaker at a podium declares that war shall be abolished, but an audience member immediately raises the practical question of how to determine territorial rights without military conflict. The speaker proposes that disputed territory will be "made socially awkward" and that whoever stays the longest wins the claim -- essentially replacing warfare with an endurance contest of discomfort.

The speaker then proceeds to demonstrate this concept in real time, first claiming ownership of the room, then announcing that he's soiling himself, and finally revealing that under each seat are naked photographs of his wife bordered by racial slurs. The audience members gradually leave their seats as each announcement makes the situation more unbearable. The last remaining person in the audience concedes, "We cede this land to the speaker." The comic satirizes the naive optimism of calls to abolish war by showing that any replacement system for resolving territorial disputes could end up being its own form of unpleasant coercion.
