Codes
Explanation
This comic depicts an interrogation or espionage scenario. A man declares "I'll never reveal the launch codes! Never!" His captors respond with escalating threats.
First, they show him a sex tape of himself: "We captured a sex tape of you." He responds defiantly: "I don't care! Show it to the world!" Then they reveal a twist: "We then digitally extracted your partner" -- meaning they've edited the video so it's just him, alone, acting ridiculous. He begins to crack: "It's just you there, naked, hunched over for two minutes." The man starts making horrified noises.
The interrogators push further: "Then we transported you to a cave. Look at it. Look at what you are. You look like Gollum having a seizure." The man's distressed noises intensify until he finally breaks and begs them to give him the button to launch the missiles.
The joke is that a regular sex tape wouldn't be embarrassing enough to break him, but removing his partner from the footage -- leaving just his own solo physical contortions visible -- is so humiliating that it breaks his will entirely. The comic plays on the universal insecurity that the physical motions people make during intimate moments, when viewed in isolation and out of context, look absurd and undignified. The cave backdrop makes it even worse by removing all context of civilization.
