The Joke
A man presents a graduation gift to a woman, saying "Congrats on your graduation! Here's a bottle of champagne." He then gleefully reveals "HAHAHAHAHA! There is no champagne! It's filled with bees!" In the next panel, the woman calmly observes that she thought it would be terrible and crazy, but actually nothing is happening because the bees are all dead inside. The man then delivers the punchline: "And now you're prepared to enter the labor force."
The Humor
The comic works on multiple levels as a dark commentary on post-graduation life and entering the workforce. The fake champagne bottle filled with bees is set up as a cruel prank, but the real joke is the twist -- the bees are all dead inside, which becomes a metaphor for the workers the graduate is about to join. The phrase "dead inside" is doing double duty: literally describing the bees in the bottle, and figuratively describing the emotional state of people in the modern workforce. The graduation gift is not the champagne or the bees, but the existential lesson that working life will drain you of vitality.
The votey ("Don't worry. It's only 5 more decades.") drives the point home by referencing the roughly 50 years of working life that stretch between graduation and retirement, delivered with sardonic false reassurance.
