Dragonfly
Explanation
The Joke
The comic presents facts about dragonflies through a conversation between a mother and child. The first panel explains that dragonflies have four wings instead of two as a defense mechanism. The second panel states that when a predator sees a dragonfly's four wings, it thinks it's looking at a mated pair. The third panel shows the dragonfly flying off, with the narration explaining that the predator is then fooled into thinking the dragonfly is "too fast" -- but then the child interjects: "How do you know so much about biology, Mom?" The mother, depicted with dragonfly-like wings and features, nervously responds: "Honestly you kids don't need most of it."
The implication is that the mother is herself a dragonfly (or some kind of dragonfly-human hybrid), and her detailed knowledge of dragonfly biology comes from personal experience rather than academic study. Her deflection when questioned suggests she's hiding her true nature from her children.
The Humor
The humor operates on a classic misdirection structure. What begins as a seemingly straightforward educational comic about dragonfly biology takes an absurd turn when it's revealed that the "mother" giving the lesson appears to be a dragonfly herself. Her dismissive "you don't need most of it" is funny because it reframes the entire lecture -- she wasn't teaching fun nature facts, she was almost accidentally revealing family secrets about her own species. The joke also plays on the trope of parents awkwardly dodging their children's pointed questions.
