eat-2
Explanation
This comic is a simple, dark one-panel joke. An older man in sunglasses and a suit, looking solemn, tells someone: "Now it falls to you, son. Now it is YOUR job to eat me if I die."
The caption below reads: "Dad took the loss of his cat poorly."
The joke plays on the well-known (if somewhat morbid) fact that cats will sometimes eat their deceased owners if left alone with the body. The father, grief-stricken over his cat's death, has apparently internalized this behavior as a form of love or duty -- the cat would have eaten him, so now he needs someone else to fulfill that role. He's essentially passing on what he sees as a sacred feline responsibility to his son, treating the cat's willingness to consume its owner as an act of devotion rather than, well, a cat being a cat. The funeral attire and grave delivery make the absurd request even funnier by framing it with complete seriousness.
