ideal-2
Explanation
This comic tackles the concept of an "ideal marriage" through a conversation with God. A man prays asking what an ideal marriage looks like, and God answers "Three people, minimum." The man is shocked, but God explains the logic: modern life involves extensive childcare responsibilities, domestic work, and professional careers. Having only two adults in a household trying to juggle full-time jobs, childcare, and domestic labor is an enormous strain. Historically, extended family networks provided extra support, but the modern nuclear family isolates couples. The man initially resists, but by the final panel his wife suggests "We need to add a dude to our marriage who likes childcare and baking," and the man enthusiastically agrees: "God is good!" The humor comes from using theological authority to arrive at a pragmatic, polyamorous conclusion about the impracticality of the two-person household in modern life.
