Explanation
The Joke
A man finds a genie lamp and asks: "A genie? Do I get three wishes?" The genie corrects him: "No. You get one." The man then asks: "You used your second wish to forget all of the consequences of the first wish?" The genie confirms: "I'm pretty sure I included myself in the second wish." The final panel pulls back to reveal the man is naked, surrounded by gerbils, in a strange landscape, with no memory of how he got there.
The Humor
The comic plays on the classic "genie wish" trope where wishers always suffer unintended consequences. Here, the twist is that the genie himself was once a wisher who made such catastrophic wishes that he used his second wish to forget what he did with the first, and his third wish was apparently used up somehow (possibly becoming the genie). The result is a genie who has no idea what happened, surrounded by unexplained gerbils and a confused naked man. The joke works on multiple levels: it explains why genies are trapped in lamps (they wished themselves there), why wishes always go wrong (even the wisher wants to forget), and creates a perfectly absurd scene where neither the genie nor the man can reconstruct what happened. The gerbils serve as the visual punchline -- an inexplicable consequence that will forever remain unexplained because the memory of the wish was deliberately erased.
