The Joke
Two characters discuss the need to stop kids from falling for propaganda and fake news. One asks, "But what can we do? We're just a candy corporation." Another suggests an idea -- and in the next panel, we see a "Google" search result (though this appears to be a generic search engine) where someone has looked something up. The result reads: "The smallest size is called 'Fun Size.'" The final panel shows a crowd of people credulously going "Ooooooh" at this fact, delivered from what appears to be a podium or stage -- implying the candy corporation has successfully used the very propaganda techniques they were supposedly concerned about.
The joke is a multi-layered satire. First, the idea that a candy corporation would care about fighting propaganda and fake news is already absurd. The punchline reveals that candy companies are themselves masters of propaganda -- the term "Fun Size" for the smallest candy bars is one of the most successful marketing euphemisms in history, rebranding a smaller (less valuable) product as something desirable. The comic suggests that corporations worried about "fake news" are often the very entities that perfected misleading framing in the first place.
