Explanation
This comic is about a mugging that goes off the rails. A mugger demands "Gimme your wallet!" and the victim enthusiastically responds "Amazing! Let me get my phone." The mugger is confused as the victim starts narrating into their phone: "Hey guys, I'm having a really wild hack this evening, because I'm getting mugged right now, so click subscribe to help support..."
The victim is a content creator/influencer who immediately sees the mugging as content for their channel. The mugger, exasperated, says "Forget it, mugging's over." But the comic continues with the victim reflecting on how "Back when I was a teen, when you had a transgressive experience, you were present for the experience. It was meaningful." A bystander points out the irony: the victim is lamenting the loss of authentic experience while simultaneously having just tried to livestream their own mugging.
The final panels show the victim continuing to philosophize about how "the fact that people can't recognize the irony is what's most depressing" -- still completely failing to see that they themselves are the prime example of the phenomenon they're criticizing. The mugger and victim end up bonding slightly, with a final "Gimme your wallet" / "Give me your coins" exchange.
The humor satirizes influencer culture and the compulsion to document everything for content, but adds a layer by having the character also be a hypocrite who bemoans the very behavior they embody. It's a commentary on how the drive to perform authenticity on social media is itself the most inauthentic act of all.
