wax
Explanation
The Joke
A woman asks a man what he is doing, and he replies that he is "waxing my entire body for you." She coos approvingly. In the next panel (labeled "Later"), the man appears covered head-to-toe in wax, looking like a living candle or wax figure, proudly declaring "Ah ah ah, I am a living Dan-woman!" His partner and another person stare in horror. Someone says "What? He's a mannequin!" and "You're supposed to pull off the wax to remove body hair!" The man protests: "What? You're crazy!"
The joke is a simple misunderstanding of what "waxing your body" means. In normal usage, body waxing refers to a hair removal procedure where hot wax is applied and then ripped off, pulling hairs out with it. The man has instead interpreted it literally -- he has covered his entire body in wax and left it on, essentially turning himself into a wax sculpture.
The Humor
The comedy derives from the absurd literal interpretation of a common grooming term. The man's proud presentation of himself as a wax-coated figure, combined with his genuine confusion when told he was supposed to remove the wax, creates a classic comedy-of-misunderstanding scenario. The visual of a person cheerfully standing around encased in wax, believing they have done something romantic and attractive for their partner, is inherently ridiculous. The detail that he calls himself a "living Dan-woman" (likely "mannequin" misheard or garbled) adds to the sense that he has fundamentally misunderstood the entire concept.
