Number One Dad
Explanation
This comic shows the gap between what makes a parent feel like they're doing well versus what actually earns them praise from their children. In the first panels, a father is venting to his partner about how overwhelmed he is: the kids are making him crazy, he's afraid of everything, the house is a disaster. His partner (in an adjacent panel) is also stressed, yelling "I am tapping the f*** out, man! I surrender! I give up on parenting!" Then the dad calls out: "Hey kids, who wants macaroni and 6 hours of cartoons?" The kids immediately cheer "YOOOAYYY!" and declare him "Best dad ever!" The joke is that the moment a parent gives up on trying to be a good, responsible parent and just surrenders to easy, indulgent choices (junk food and unlimited screen time), that's precisely when their children love them most. It's a wry commentary on how children's standards for parental excellence are completely at odds with actual good parenting.
